INTERNET PHONE SERVICE ADVANTAGES

Internet Phone Service, sometimes called Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) is now available with quality comparable to conventional phone service, but at lower costs.  Quality voice service normally requires about 90 Kbps of both upstream and downstream Internet bandwidth for each phone line.  This means that regular DSL and Cable Internet access services are impractical for more than two or three business phone lines.  That’s because the upload speeds of these Internet services are slower than their download speeds.

Symmetrical Internet services like T-1 and FPUAnet® Dedicated Internet Access offer fast upload as well as download speeds.  Here are some examples of the use of these services with Internet Phone Service:

Many Internet phone lines come with unlimited local and long distance calling at no extra charge.  As can be seen from the table above, a combination of our FPUAnet Dedicated Internet Access with Internet Phone Service is a good fit.  In many cases these two services can save even a small business hundreds of dollars a month.

As a convenience to our customers, we did an extensive search for quality Internet Phone Service providers.  We started with a list of over 150 providers from Wikipedia ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ ) .  After examining each one for features, pricing, customer service, etc, we narrowed it down in November 2007 to the three listed below.  Of course, providers can improve or degrade, so please check them out for yourself.

ATA means Analogue Telephone Adapter , which may normally be used with standard phones or phone systems.
PBX refers to Hosted PBX service, which means the provider’s phone system supports the client’s phones.

Fully Featured
refers to the group of features that most providers include.
Hunt groups are groups of phone numbers that work together; if the first line in the group, the second rings, etc.
Huntbusy is a substitute for hunt group; the busy line forwards to the 2nd line, with a longer delay than hunt group.
